Approximately 32 years ago on a Friday, two men entered the offices of First Plus Financial, Inc. in Dallas, Texas with $1,000,000 to invest at 18% annual interest. Instead of accepting their investment, the CEO asked for help to raise $3,000,000 to cover Monday’s payroll. They successfully raised the money and in return they acquired 12,000 (twelve thousand) notes that were delivered in banker boxes to one of the agent’s home. It was soon clear that their new note business would live or die with their buyer’s list, if they were to sell any of the notes. One of those men is the founder of PTE, Inc.
